Everyone can think back to all those yummy dishes we used to enjoy when we were kids. Whether it was a box of junk food like Pop Tarts for breakfast or your mom’s homemade cooking. Talk about nostalgia! Well, we at GoWISE USA want to bring back a dose of that sentimentality. Each month you’ll be able to meet various members of GoWISE USA and see us recreate our favorite childhood recipes utilizing all of our products in our new video series, Mealtime Memories with GoWISE!
In the previous months, we introduced you to Amy, our Lead Graphic Designer, where she recreated a delicious childhood recipe, Pork & Mushroom Dumplings & Dipping Sauce utilizing the Pressure Cooker! Last month, you met Rachel, one of our Junior Graphic Designers and Video Editor, who utilized the Air Fryer Oven Ultra to make her Nana's Macaroni!
This month, we’ll introduce you to Leslie, one of our Social Media Specialists, who utilized the 6-qt Pressure Cooker to recreate her Mom’s recipe! Growing up, Leslie’s mom always liked to cook during family get togethers. One of the best things she had growing up was arroz con leche, the Spanish version of the well-known rice pudding. At home it was the ultimate favorite comfort dessert!
Mom’s Arroz Con Leche
Leslie thought our Pressure Cooker was the perfect GoWISE kitchen gadget to use because it makes this already easy recipe even easier! If you don’t have one of our Pressure Cookers yet, then feel free to use a medium-size heavy saucepan and set over medium-high heat. Preparing this in your pressure cooker, we recommend cooking this dish for the additional time to ensure the mixture is thick. The smell of warm milk, rice & cinnamon will bring comfort into your home and make every single family member feel very special. We’re sharing this recipe hoping it will bring you some childhood memories too.
Ingredients:
2 Cups of whole milk
1 ¼ Cups of water
1 Teaspoon of cinnamon
1 Half teaspoon nutmeg
¼ Teaspoon salt
Directions:
You want to make sure to first rinse your rice with a fine colander. Using your GoWise pressure cooker, add milk, water, a pinch of salt, cinnamon and nutmeg. Feel free to use more cinnamon if you want extra flavor. Add your rice and stir all ingredients together. Put on your pressure cooker lid. Use the porridge preset to cook for 20 minutes. When the cycle is over, let your pot de-pressurize naturally. Add vanilla extract and condensed milk. Mix well, and you’re ready to serve and share!

This dessert will make you feel closer to home with every spoonful, especially when served warm. Using our Pressure Cooker, you will have this dish ready in under 30 minutes. If you love cinnamon and love pudding you won’t be able to resist! Serve hot, topped with additional milk and a sprinkle of cinnamon. There are lots of toppings you can use from fruits to nuts, but here are some favorites: brown sugar, honey, raisins, nutmeg, and coconut.
