January is almost over! Can you believe it? For some of us, our New Year’s Resolution is getting hard to keep and that’s okay. Luckily for those trying to eat healthier, there is such a thing as cheat days. Sometimes we need to give ourselves a break, as long as it’s within reason. Therefore, this week we have decided to make some air fried mac and cheese balls for cheat day.
We confess, it’s not one of the healthiest meals we’ve made, but by using an air fryer you eliminate the excessive amount of oil needed to create these.
We’ll be using one of our Retro Air Fryers for this recipe. We hope you will enjoy responsibly.
Ingredients:
4 cups of leftover mac and cheese
1.5 cups of seasoned breadcrumbs (see below for substitutions)
1 egg
1 Tbsp. milk
Vegetable Oil
Instructions:
- In a bowl, beat 1 egg and add milk. Mix well.
- In a separate bowl, add seasoned breadcrumbs.
- Cut leftover mac and cheese into balls.
- Dip each ball into egg and bread crumbs.
- Place in air fryer. Brush with olive oil.
- Cook at 370F for 5-8 minutes.
- Shake and brush with more oil.
- Cook for an additional 2 minutes.
- Optional: serve with marinara sauce.
Tip: If you are making mac and cheese for these, place the finished mac and cheese in the freezer. If not, use the leftover mac and cheese right from the fridge.
