Breakfast Toad in the Hole

This flavorsome dish will remind you of those breakfast hot pockets, but without all the other junk in them. Make sure you thaw the pastry to ensure it cooks faster and thoroughly! Air frying them first will make it easier to stuff the ham and cheese in later. We opted for putting ham and cheese in the middle to mimic a ham and cheese sandwich. Feel free to add your desired fixings to the middle!

Ingredients:

1 puff pastry, thawed

4 tbsp cheddar cheese shredded

4 tbsp diced cooked ham

4 eggs

chopped fresh chives, optional

Directions:

Unfold the puff pastry sheet and cut it into 4 squares. Place 2 pastry squares in the air fryer basket with perforated parchment paper (optional) and air fry at 400°F for 6 minutes.

Remove basket from the air fryer. Use a tablespoon to press each square carefully to form an indent. Place 1 tablespoon of cheddar cheese and 1 tablespoon of ham into each hole and crack 1 egg on top of each. Return the basket to the air fryer and air fry at 400°F for 6 minutes. Top with fresh chives.

Repeat with remaining pastry squares, cheese, ham and eggs.

Pop Tarts

This recipe is a healthier version of Pop Tarts because of the flour and Greek yogurt mixture. Yogurt is ideal to use as a substitution because the acid in it reacts with the leavening agents in the self-rising flour, causing it to rise. Working your dough out on a floured surface will help to knead it and ensure it doesn’t stick to the surface. We selected making strawberry and Nutella pop tarts but go ahead and add in your own desired ingredients! It is important to let the glaze harden for a few minutes before serving to make certain that the glaze stays on your pop tart. It will also achieve that harder frosting texture we love! And let’s be honest, you’ll also have fun decorating your favorite childhood treat!

Ingredients:

Pop tarts:

2 cups self-rising flour

2 cups Greek yogurt

strawberry jam

Nutella

1 banana, sliced

Glaze:

 ½ cup powdered sugar, divided

1 tbsp cream

1 tsp vanilla

red food coloring

1 tbsp warm water

Nutella

rainbow sprinkles

Directions:

Combine the flour and the yogurt to make your dough. Knead it until it forms a ball and then roll it out onto a floured surface. Cut into 16 rectangles.

For your strawberry pop tarts, add a few teaspoons of strawberry jam onto 4 of the rectangles. Cover with another rectangle and pinch the sides closed with a fork.

For the Nutella pop tarts, add a few teaspoons of Nutella onto 4 rectangles and a few thin slices of bananas. Cover with another rectangle and pinch the sides closed with a fork.

Place the pop tarts 1-2 at a time in the air fryer basket with perforated parchment paper (optional). Air fry at 400°F for 8-10 minutes, flipping halfway through. Allow to cool after air frying.

In a small mixing bowl, combine ¼ cup powdered sugar, cream, vanilla, and a drop of food coloring. When mixed, spread onto pop tarts and top with sprinkles.

For the Nutella pop tarts, combine the rest of the powdered sugar and warm water in a small mixing bowl. Then, spread onto the remaining pop tarts. Let the glaze harden and enjoy!

French Toast Sticks

Air frying this extra delectable breakfast makes it healthier, especially because it is also made without any oil or added sugar. The result is the outside gets nice and crispy, but the inside stays soft and fluffy. Make sure you don’t leave the bread in the egg mixture for too long or it will get saturated and fall apart. Don’t hesitate to add ginger or nutmeg to your egg mixture to switch up the flavor! Using drier bread, or day-old bread is ideal because it will absorb the egg mixture without becoming too soggy. Go ahead and cook your french toast sticks for longer if you desire a crunchier texture. We served it with powdered sugar, berries, cinnamon and maple syrup, but feel free to serve with your choice of sweetener, such as jam or honey!

Ingredients:

3 eggs

2/3 cup milk

1 tsp vanilla extract

½ tsp ground cinnamon

4 slices of day old bread, thick sliced

dash of powdered sugar

berries

syrup

Directions:

Break the eggs into a mixing bowl and whisk together. Mix in the milk, vanilla and cinnamon.

Cut slices of bread vertically to create ticks. Then, dip the bread into the egg mixture and fully coat each side.

Place into the air fryer basket with perforated parchment paper, (optional) making sure the pieces do not touch. Air fry at 370°F for 5 minutes and then flip and air fry for an additional 3 minutes. Top with powdered sugar and berries and serve with syrup!

Baked Apple

An American favorite that will sure to bring comfort your way. You will want to start by cutting the apple in half and spooning out some of the flesh, because you will fill it later on. We wanted a sweeter taste, which is why we went for a sweeter mixture. Go ahead and add in whatever type of mixture you desire! Pouring water into the cake pan before cooking is to ensure your apples will stay juicy and the air fryer doesn’t smoke too much. We drizzled agave nectar over it for a sweeter explosion, but add your own desired toppings!

Ingredients:

1 medium apple

2 tbsp walnuts, chopped

2 tbsp raisins

1 ½  tsp butter, melted

¼ tsp cinnamon

¼ tsp nutmeg

¼ cup water

agave nectar

Directions:

Cut the apple in half around the middle and spoon out some of the flesh. Place the apple in a cake pan safe for the air fryer.

In a small bowl, combine the butter, cinnamon, nutmeg, walnuts and raisins. Spoon the mixture into the centers of the apple halves.

Pour water into the pan and place the cake pan in the air fryer basket. Bake at 350°F for 20 minutes. Drizzle agave nectar over the top of the apples and enjoy!

German Pancake Bites

This recipe is versatile enough to enjoy as it is or top with extra berries and a side of eggs or bacon for a full breakfast meal. Making them into a round or bite size form is ideal, because you don’t have to worry about flipping them over. Just fill up your ramekin with the mixture, pop them in the air fryer and done! It is important to butter your ramekins first to ensure your pancake bites do not stick after cooking. You’ll want to remember to only fill the ramekins up ¼ of the way, so that they are not overfilled, and you don’t make a bigger mess in the air fryer. We opted for topping them with chocolate hazelnut spread, berries and bananas, but don’t hesitate to add different toppings!

Ingredients:

Pancakes:

6 eggs

1 cup whole milk

1 tsp salt

1 cup all-purpose flour

Suggested Topping:

chocolate hazelnut spread

berries

banana slices

Directions:

In a large mixing bowl, beat together the eggs and milk. Sift in flour and salt. Mix together using an electric mixer and set aside.

Lightly butter the inside of 4 ramekins or 4 small oven-safe cups. Fill each ramekin ¼ full of batter. Place the ramekins in the air fryer basket with perforated parchment paper (optional) and air fry at 400°F for 6 minutes.
